Dear St. Andrew’s UM Church Family,

As we embark on our new sermon series, "Faithful Footsteps," I invite you to reflect on the profound journey each of us undertakes as followers of Christ. This season in our church calendar offers us an incredible opportunity to align our spiritual path with those who have walked before us, charting unknown waters in pursuit of divine promise and light.

What stands out to me deeply is how faith often mirrors a pilgrimage—steadfast yet unpredictable, demanding our trust and eagerness to embrace God’s revelations along the way. Like the Magi who left their comfort zones, guided by a star, each step we take is wrapped in a promise of transformation and discovery. What unknowns is God calling you to explore this season?

On January 1 our new district name will be “The Northern Wilds District.” This name was selected as it reflects and acknowledges that a portion of the Pennsylvania Wilds falls within our boundaries, and that no matter where you are in the district, you aren’t far from the wilds of nature. I dare say the name also reflects and acknowledges the fact that each of us goes through a metaphorical wilderness, sometimes each and every day.

The wilderness we traverse in our lives may be daunting, but it also holds the potential for extraordinary encounters with grace and truth. How can we prepare our hearts to receive these moments? How can we support one another as a community when the path becomes challenging?

As we journey together, may we remain open to the unexpected, trusting in the consistent presence of Christ’s guiding light. Let us encourage one another to keep moving forward with courage and faith, knowing we are not alone. In each step we take, may we discover more of God’s love and purpose for our lives.

I look forward to walking this path alongside you, as together we follow in Christ’s faithful footsteps.

Blessings on your journey,

Pastor Brian
