Missions & Outreach
St. Andrew's is blessed to have a very active Missions Team
overseeing a variety of mission projects both locally and globally.
Global Ministries
The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is dedicated to alleviating human suffering around the globe.
Their purpose is to connect the Church in mission, while making disciples of Jesus Christ, strengthen, develop, and renew Christian congregations and communities, alleviate human suffering and to seek justice, freedom and peace.
Sierra Leone Initiative
St. Andrews UMC has joined the Sierra Leone Initiative. Belonging to the Initiative means we support the pastors of the Sierra Leone UM Churches through the Susquehanna Conference.
We partner with Zimmi United Methodist in Zimmi close to the Liberian border. We helped purchase land for Zimmi UM Church to build a church, a school, and some musical instruments.
Healthy Women, Healthy Liberia
We also have another African connection with Dr. Christiana Hena who has a medical clinic in a village in Liberia.
With the help of an American friend of Dr. Chris, an organization was formed, “Healthy Women, Healthy Liberia”. They have now been able to build a new clinic. https://www.healthywomenliberia.org/
The new clinic is Waterfield Primary Healthcare Center. To learn more about this special ministry visit the site above.
The Lord has certainly blessed the work of Dr. Chris.
Red Bird Mission
Red Bird Missionary Conference, located in the southeastern portion of the state of Kentucky. Our giving helps with food pantry, meals to a homeless shelter, children’s school back packs, Christmas Gift ministries, Red Bird Outreach center, and other missions that this organization spearheads.
Local Missions
St. Andrews UMC is very active within our community as well. We have held senior luncheons, music concerts and a splash bash at the Milton Community Pool. Our participation with the annual Harvest Festival allows us to keep our community aware of our activities and we welcome all to join us!
We have an Annual Christmas Hymn Sing for the community. We also support several local organizations such as the Salvation Army, community library, YMCA, pool, and various others.
A Community Harvest Meal is held every Monday evening in conjunction with Bucknell University. Members of the community & Bucknell students prepare a healthy meal, free to those in our community.
Panther Packs As a ministry to the children of the Milton School District, Panther Packs provides weekend meals for appx. 300 school children across our community. Follow Panther Packs on Facebook. Email questions to: saumc@ptd.net
Get Involved
Our missions committee is open to all those who would like to serve the community, spread the GOOD NEWS and be disciples of Christ. We welcome new ideas to accomplish our goals of spreading Christ’s Love and to bring believers into HIS family.
